Meditation Opportunities
Thursday evenings at First Presbyterian
We will meet for meditation on all Thursdays in September and October from 7:00 – 9:00 pm in the fellowship hall. Our format for the first hour is two 20-minute periods of sitting in silence with a 10 minute walking meditation in between. For the second hour, we are doing a contemplative listening book reading. We are currently reading short sections from a book by Pema Chodron, The Pocket Pema Chodron. Join us for either or both hours.
October Silent Retreat Day

Connecting Mind, Body and Spirit
Our October retreat day will provide time for practicing silence and an opportunity to learn Tai Chi from master teacher Rev. Hei Takarabe. Hei teaches, “Tai Chi works on your energy, so you relax your body, and your mind and body connection is established. You move your hands very slowly and allow your mind to get into your body. Once you get connected, the mind goes to where it needs to be energized and heal.” The rhythm of our day will include an hour and a half silent meditation in the morning, an hour and a half Tai Chi presentation and practice time, a silent lunch break, and conclude with another hour and a half time of silent meditation. Come join us as we learn from Zen practice how to deepen our silence and bring more love and peace into the world. Please bring a sack lunch. Coffee, tea and refreshments will be provided. A freewill offering will be available. You are welcome to come for all or part of the day.

In closing,
“Give and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap.” Luke 6:38
“Whatever you think people are withholding from you — praise, appreciation, assistance, loving care, and so on —give it to them. You don’t have it? Just act as if you had it, and it will come. Then, soon after you start giving, you will start receiving.”
Eckhart Tolle from A New Earth
